Snark It Up, FuzzBall!

Everyone has quirks, and Josh F., blogmeister of The Comics Curmudgeon, is no exception.  What peeves him about the comic strip Shoe (well, one thing) is the Goggle Eyes of Horror that occasionally show up in the final panel of a strip, supposedly a reaction to a joke or a pun, but giving the appearance of out-and-out terror (he explains it so much better:  http://joshreads.com/?p=18302#comment-1592218 ).

Just the girls, Bernice and Delta! Young and free, and so self-sufficient!  And so innovative, grabbing a handful of paper towels from the restroom because places like AM/PM, QuikTrip and the like have seemingly never heard of those fancy napkin things.

Amid your self-congratulatory celebration, watch out for the little kid over there.

Quite unintentionally, the last Luann mashup I did had just about the same outcome.  Is my Freudian slip showing?

Over in the Deep Woods, Old Man Mozz (Village Prophet and Seer) dreams of awful things coming to The Phantom (Village Idiot)! Guran (Village Medicine Man) counsels The Phantom (Village Big Purple Goober) to stay safe, close to home! The Phantom (Ghost-Who-Does-Jerky-Things) longs for Adventure!

What could possibly go wrong?

Is that how it goes, Mr. Evans?  I swear, this would give my college Calculus class a run for its money!

Can a comic strip character really be THAT repugnant?

If you’re Luann, a selfish, self-absorbed teen, you can!  Sadly, this me-me-me brat is supposed to be the Very Special Snowflake in the strip (Ann Eiffel, Tiffany, etc. are all the she-devils from hell, you know).  Her “boyfriend” is half a world away, and suddenly she’s amazed by the fact that the Post Office or UPS or Fedex just can use their super-secret transporters to get her cards and gifts and acknowledgements of Wonderfulness to her in the blink of an eye.

As several other CCers have already noted, Luann is a prime candidate for CWAA* status…

But really? Would Greg Evans do this to his Very Special Snowflake? (Damn, I wish he would…)

That’s about all you need to know.  I haven’t been keeping track (then again, Greg Evans seems more interested in the sordid tail of TJ fingering Ann Eiffel, and some other plots that are too lame for me to remember).
