I’ve often wondered how this notion of digging through the earth (ignoring the liquid hot magma and solid core) from the Northern Hemisphere will somehow end you up in China – which is in the same gawddam hemisphere – became so firmly entrenched in the cultural mindset. I believed it as a little kid, but who first promulgated this ridiculous idea?
