I get so many inspirations from the funny folks over at the Comics Curmudgeon website (Go there.  Now.)

Like a mashup in which a quick stroll down city sidewalks is met with unusual, scary, scary characters:

Or another when the mere mention of a 70s film goes right off the rails:

It’s not that Love is… panels can’t stand on their own:

It’s just that they’re a lot more fun (and make a modicum more sense) if they’re dicked around with enhanced:

I don’t read Love is… unless someone at the Comics Curmudgeon notes something particularly heinous about a certain strip.  So why on earth did I go at look at today’s?

Probably to recycle (it’s the right thing to do) an old mashup from around this time last year (courtesy of CC’s Dingo, a man of many appetites):

And then CC’s Écureuil Écumant noted that the operational appendage is reversible.  Yep, that’s what you get with a product proudly made in the States.  USA!  USA!  USA!

The 22 November Mary Worth and Jumble both allude to a similar malady (and yes, the answer to Jumble is “LAME EXCUSE”), with Dr. Jeff and his gimpy knees and the guy in Jumble having a bag of donuts accompany his tardy alibi.

Coincidence?  Maybe, but I think it’s just better that if a cartoonist is going to be out sick or on vacation, it’s best if the paper uses re-runs rather than depend on other cartoonists to fill in.  Unfortunate things can happen:

All right.  When it’s a typical “Love is…” cartoon with this illustration and the caption “…the back story.“, what the deuce am I supposed to think?!

And even when teh secks is even a little more pedestrian, it still manages to be somewhat ookie:

Mark Trail! The Amazing Spiderman!

Actually, if we really want to be honest, it should be Sorta Amazing Mark Trail! The Pretty Lame Spiderman!

(And that’s “Sorta Amazing” in a “You’ve Got to Be Kidding Me” way…)  Nevertheless, who would’ve guessed that diamonds trumped everything this week in the comics?

…ah, forget that.

When Pardon My Planet gives you this:

how can you (read, I) resist?

It’s a freakin’ Rex Morgan opportunity, for one!

That means some new friends:

And even some old friends — really old friends (yay, Count Morgu!):

Gosh, I love Rex Morgan.  It’s/he’s probably my favorite mashup subject.  Sometimes things get a wee bit dull when he’s not around, but have Rex enter the frame, and It’s All Good.  I think he inspires his fellow characters to do their hysterical best (remember Max “the Ax” Malloy? Lee the Felon? Good times…)

And I’m the first to admit that I don’t read “Pardon My Planet” regularly (nothing personal, it just doesn’t happen).  It must’ve been kismet to have clicked on the Saturday panel…
