…when someone points out that a panel with Jughead holding a burrito (a burrito? What? Is Jughead vacationing at the swanky Pax Wellness Resort in lovely Tucson, Arizona?!?) looks suspiciously like an old drawing, probably with a hamburger, being slightly cut and pasted into his hands.

Of course, it’s just so easy to go overboard.  I’d like to think that this might be Dingo-approved…

[It’s weird.  Some of my most disturbing mashups have been done to Archie strips. Or, why I have a total of Archie mashups that I can count on one hand.]

An exhausted  Spiderman jets his way to the banana republic of Costa Verde and is seated next to some little bastard name Wilmer. Only his incredible Spidey-sense alerts him to the fact that the little jerk is trying to unmask him (I remember vintage 1960s joke about a boy, a child psychologist, a box of chocolates and masturbation, but I won’t go into it here.)

And in a hot debate, does Spidey have girl lips? You be the judge!

Judge Parker has two concurrent story-lines (I think), but the important thing is…the really interesting one with Judge Parker isn’t being shown.  Who cares about Randy and his NSA fiancee (well, maybe, unless you’re Eric Snowden)?  We want Pissyface! We want Pissyface!

So let’s just get two of the most ill-tempered characters in the comics together, shall we?

…but I’ll try.  The 9 July 2013 Crankshaft had a joke (yeah, whatever) about Crankshaft putting ketchup on everything, and the old lady who lives with him commenting, “Your father puts ketchup on the most inappropriate things.”
In an effort to salvage what little humor there was in this particular strip on this particular day, Josh, The Comics Curmudgeon himself, said:  ‘“Your father puts ketchup on so many inappropriate things”…is surely the greatest sentence that will appear in the comics all week, and perhaps all month. It’s positively poetic. In fact, I urge all of you poetically inclined folk to make it the first line in a poem of your own design in the comments. I expect Pulitzer Prize-winning greatness.’

Well, heck, the commentary that resulted made the site look  like that weird tomato-chucking festival the locals hold annually somewhere in Spain.  (It’s La Tomatina, held in Buñol, in case you’re making travel plans.  It’s probably safer than running with the bulls.)

And since I don’t consider myself a poet, I took the visual route.  Here’s ketchup in yer eye!  [What surprised me is no one commented on the contents of the wine glass…maybe I’m just too obvious.]

Bob Weber, Jr., Shylock Fox’s dad, is a wonderful gentleman.  He really likes to aim his comic to kids, so weird stuff (like doing *things* to sexy Cassandra Cat) can be a little dicey.  I’m posting this here, because I’m not sure kids come to this blog.  Or anyone else, for that matter.

Everyone has quirks, and Josh F., blogmeister of The Comics Curmudgeon, is no exception.  What peeves him about the comic strip Shoe (well, one thing) is the Goggle Eyes of Horror that occasionally show up in the final panel of a strip, supposedly a reaction to a joke or a pun, but giving the appearance of out-and-out terror (he explains it so much better:  http://joshreads.com/?p=18302#comment-1592218 ).

An example:

Goggle Eyes

I think Josh may be over-reacting. Here, I think he looks more like Simon’s Cat than the victim of Cuthulhuesque terror:

Josh Goggle Eyes

So I’m just going to pat him gently on the han–
