GAH! Great, we have a strip featuring mother(zilla) of the bride(zilla), Elly, and I end up mashing it twice.

Okay, the first is a gimme. (Note the stylish Imperial Green that the hotel liaison is wearing.) The thing with John in drag is an ongoing critique of neighbor Connie slowly but surely morphing into him. Either him, or Grandpa Jim…

This was based on a lot of CCer’s speculations about Asshathony’s mother. The mother who walked out on him when he was in grade school. The woman we’ve never seen. But of course, we only see 30 seconds of the Pattersons’ busy, busy lives, so she’s probably whooping it up with Elly the other 23 hours, 59 minutes, and 30 seconds of the day. And hey, what gives us the right to see her?

Comments Off on Face it…it’s all about Elly

CC’s John C. Fremont (and a few others) noted new law partner Steve Shannon’s ability to wield the Force. It must be a Jedi mind trick, because a Sith wouldn’t be wasting it on something as trivial as golf.

Then again, a Sith might get some sort of sick amusement from toying with Sam and Abbey’s affections…

Then things just zoom right back into our galaxy…or more likely, Salvador Dali or E.M. Escher’s galaxies. A cool one panel that shows the progress of Steve and Sam walking down a hall, there’s still something spooky about seeing the two of them in triplicate.

At least between the book advance babbling and the golf talk, Gloria makes an appearance!

…as an adult, Jeffy K. is probably still wearing a raincoat. But for different reasons.

So there’s a panel with Dolly proudly announcing to Mommy that she’s gotten Jeffy ready so that he’ll be safe from exposure to the sun. At last — we know where the mythical Keanes live! ON MERCURY!

Of course, this means, Jeffy can obviously jet all over the place…

other places in the galaxy…

…and even other comics universes…

I read Sally Forth on Sunday, because that’s the only day we get the paper delivered. I’ll occasionally look it up when there’s some good commentary about a particular day at Comics Curmudgeon, or when Josh (the Comics Curmudgeon himself) posts it. Even so, I’ll just gloss it.

But, no… Josh had to make comments about Ted and co-employee wearing black vests, and Ted pretending that he’s making the Kessel run in less than 12 parsecs in his mini-van. Yeah, so I gave into the Snark Side. Sue me.

Well, Ted does have that certain Corellian “look,” the rather poofy hair from the 70s (or a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away). He still has girlier hands than most women I know, though.

I’m back from the Embattled Bride-to-be of the Damned, at least for the moment, and back to Rex ‘n’ June, love-birds, medical professionals, MRSA hunters (although June’s sense of humor seems to be stretched a wee bit thin lately).

Frankly, we don’t know how long ago Mary Worth’s childhood was, and we can only wish it were far, far away. Still plagued with platitudes it is, yes…

Well, I think a lot of folks figured that Grandpa Jim and Lisa Moore were going to do a double-feature shuffling off of the mortal coil. And dang if we weren’t surprised! And here I had them with other beloved characters doing their ghostly, Bright Side of the Force thing…

For not being “engaged,” this story arc is right up there with the Hundred Years’ War, a standard year on Pluto, and a root canal. Don’t forget the back-story that evokes our sympathy for the couple who are so much in love respect and ease with one another!
