…and by that we mean absolutely no conceivable place in Africa, either past or present. And the future is unlikely, too:

Still, is this really the danger Old Man Mozz fears for Diana? Really? REALLY?

I think not.

AH….that’s more like it!

I have no idea what’s going on in the current storyline for The Phantom. I think Kit is trying to prevent an assassination. If that’s the case, then he’s probably whaling on the bad guy — but, geez! He’s doing it with such grace! Such style! Such elan…if that guy weren’t getting the crap kicked and punched out of him, he’d probably agree with me! Don’t stop ’til you get enough, Kit!

And still, I wasn’t quite “happy” with Kit’s Jazz Hands. Practice, practice, practice, right?

…well, maybe when the Croccos are booted off the ship relocated to their safe new habitat, the Captain can have the Star of India‘s hold fumigated.

Let’s see, Ghost-Who-Cruises-and-Tries-to-Look-Like-Indiana-Jones is still on board a completely computerized ship with
— his steroidal children,
— a hold full of Croccos,
— the mystical Old Man Mozz, and
— a ship’s captain who is beginning to fantasize about his unspandexed ass.

I doubt that this will develop into a chick-fight with Mrs. Phantom (we can always hope), but the possibility for romance springs eternal!  This might not be The Love Boat, but it’s not like the Morgan clan is batting .1000 on its little Caribbean excursion, either.

I’m not holding out much hope for excitement in the ensuing reuniting of Donut Boy with civilization, but I do what I can:

And the excitement and suspense continues on Sunday!

…the current Phantom storyline goes belly-up, excitement-wise, or just treats us yet again to the half-clad, creepy physiques of the Walker twins, here’s my volley across the prow…

For some reason, this one gave me fits…I kept missing little fixes and messing up the dialog.  I really need to make notes and not rush things. I think this is the finished product!]

And try as I might to ignore most of the Phantom’s antics (hey, sailing around on an automated boat isn’t exactly the most exciting thing in the world, but it’s currently beating

A) My Interminable Dinner with Mary Worth;
(B) Less Chit-Chat, More Chest! at Judge Parker’s retirement party; and
(C) Let’s Find Donut Boy! Or Rex ‘n’ Guido in a Clinch! Or Do Something Cool with Count Morgu!)

Sigh.

Well, it’s time to check in and see what The Phantom is planning to do to control the reptilian menace that is the help the ecologically-threatened Croccos!  It’ll be dangerous, no doubt…so let’s get the kids involved! Yay!

And while we’re doing that, let’s scare the bejabbers out of innocent bystanders! Yay!

There’s little better on the comics page when a couple of panels (particularly in the “serious” strips) just sets up the snark so perfectly.

I haven’t been paying much attention to The Phantom‘s Crocco Caper, but the 19 February strip is great.  Panels 2 and 3 here are untouched, which invites all sorts of smart-ass replies.  Then again, it might just be a rhetorical question.

I think it’s a little weird that The Phantom has two unique plots going at a time, one that occurs on the weekdays (and Saturday), and the other than occurs only in the Sunday strips.  I know the reason behind it, but more often than not, I find myself reading two sub-par storylines.

Anyway, as Chatu the Python is returned to prison during the week, the Phantom takes a street kid under his wing, which means letting his own children beat the crap out of him and generally make fun of him. (This is known as “Jungle Justice.”)

Maybe I’d be more impressed with all of this if Kit’s kids, a boy and a girl, didn’t look like they’d been working out and ‘roiding up for weight-lifting competitions since they were five years old.  And I know I’d be REALLY more impressed if they wore something that didn’t look like it came from the Walgreens’ incontinence aisle.  Apparently, I’m not the only one…
