…or wherever the deuce these stories take place…

Unfortunately, Young Queen buys into the whole Spirits Personified by Local Fauna guano and sends her minions to knock off a lioness.  Maybe the folks deserve it with such narrow-minded thinking — how about keeping the settlement gates closed for a start?

The Phantom’s Lucha Libre/Shangai Surprise plot just didn’t grab me (although Kit did some serious grabbing in it).  OTOH, we’ve been promised New Adventure by Ghost Who Kinda Sorta Said Hi to His Wife on Skype, so who are we to doubt him?

I wish I could quit Funky Winkerbean, but then Somebody introduces a little black kitten that somehow stowed away in a tourist’s bags all the way to Kenya. Dammit.

Yay! We’ve escaped a week or so of Les’ whining and/or pun-making and/or altitude sickness hallucinating!  Do we deserve a reward?  Damn straight!

I miss our Comics Curmudgeon buddy Dingo.  Even when he wasn’t being his wonderfully filthy self, he was amazingly funny.  I doubt I’ll ever be adept at computer animation, and when the comics throws you Spiderman dancing for joy (no kidding! check out the 4/17/12 strip) or the Phantom making jazz hands (okay, he wasn’t really, but a girl can dream and a mash-up can result), I am reminded of Dingo’s “Mary Worth:  Dancing Queen” on YouTube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nuhiYsW7T2o.  (Holy Cow! Kit Walker even makes an appearance in the Mary Discoverse!)

So, here’s to you, Dingo, knowing you would’ve made it great.  And very likely X-rated.

This recent Phantom had so much promise…namely Lucha Libre!  Then it devolved into Asian drug cartels (yeah, like Mexico doesn’t already have enough problems) and virtually no Lucha Libre.  I guess I shouldn’t complain, as Kit Walker is the very embodiment of an Lucha hero.

Oh, heck, it’s my blog, I’ll complain if I want to!  And it’s always fun when Lee Falk, creator of The Phantom, drops by.  At least I think it’s Lee Falk…

If The Phantom says it, it must be True! Right?

Imagine my surprise to find Kit in my own backyard!  At first, I wasn’t sure whether to call Jan Brewer or the Border Patrol or what.  But then, I figured our tourism industry, having taken a severe hit in the past 18 months, can really use a boost.  So…thanks, Ghost-Who-Enhances-Our-Economy!

(And a BIG BIG BIG thanks to CC’s Binder’s Butter Beans for so accurately renaming what was already a magnificent natural wonder, if you know what I mean and I think you do…)

Eduardo Barreto, one-time illustrator for Juggs Judge Parker (I <3 Abbey Spencer, and Gloria, and crazy stripper/murderer Dixie, and hot detective Robin!), returns to the comics as the new illustrator for the Sunday edition of The Phantom!  It’s so good to know that he recovered from his bout with meningitis, but I’m not sure that I’m ready to see Guran’s moobs…maybe Diana and Capt. Savarra will figure more *prominently* in future storylines.
