…but Scoopy the Surly Sundae does have a softer side, particularly when it comes to Harry Bliss’ sad little squirrel on a park bench.

Harry Bliss is a cartoonist for the New Yorker, so it’s no wonder why I can’t figure out some of his work. But he does Chas. Addamsesque stuff at times, and at others, a cartoon is so sad (like a distraught little squirrel sitting on a park bench with a grieving man) that I have to mess with it, or I get all sad and snorfly, too.

…vacation can’t end soon enough!
It’s the same ol’, same ol’, but at least a few folks don’t complain…

Not many can beat Garbage Ape!
Someone asked why Le Chat Bleu (Les Moore’s nemesis) hadn’t made an appearance in the mystery car; someone else speculated that the feline was spending time over at Crankshaft’s strip, where Old Lillian continues to launch her writing career. Maybe so, but considering Batuiuk writes for both Funky Winkerbean and Crankshaft (or at least foundered founded both strips), there isn’t much of a stretch.
And I will admit that when I first thought of mashing this, I was going to change the title of her next book to “Murder at the Remainder Table,” but I forgot…which ties in with Lillian’s literary career.
Just to make Le Chat Bleu happy, I still may do that.
…an interesting little strip from Argentina that features witches, penguins, the occasional big, furry monster (OLGA), and a girl and her cat Fellini (not all at once).
…because the Tucson Festival of Books is such a magnificent book fait, and the one in Crankshaft looks like such a crappy one…
