Gah! There’s MRSA running rampant, along with a scary terrorist-with-nails-to-literally-die-for, and here I am, feeling obligated to publish public service announcements. OTOH, helping folks prevent having their retinas burned to a crisp is probably a Good Thing, too.

Okay, so I didn’t have Warren bolt out of Elizabeth’s apartment like a scalded cat. I was almost (but not quite) a little sad at the turn this took.

(And I really like Warren’s original reaction to the Boggie with the Bijou…)

I like crappy dialog as much as the next person. I like writing crappy dialog, too. But if you’re gonna have verbal diarrhea, make it informative, or better yet, entertaining! Fun, huh?

Evidently, this concept has eluded some strips. Maybe because bigger word balloons = less drawing. But I suspect it’s just a bigger ego.

Just last week, I was sympathizing with April, as Elly was bound and determined to interrupt her homework and school deadlines with the temptation of strawberry fudge sundaes, 3/4 lb. burgers, shrimp on the bar-be, and other delectable glop du jour.

Make me promise that I’ll never do that again — the Patterson operon is beginning to kick in big time, and it’s April’s innate nature to become an ass.

…and belligerent and stupid, too. Rex and Co. are trying to shed some light on the MRSA outbreak, only to be repeatedly shouted down by yahoos in the audience hollering “How do we kill it?” (Well, it’s more like “HOW DO WE KILL IT?”).

Josh from Comic Curmudgeon invited folks to use this catchy little phrase in any number of situations ( http://joshreads.com/?p=1522#comment-481815 ), and the folks came through; read through the commentary to catch some of their excellent efforts. One CC’er wondered if the entire Foobiverse could be caught in the cross-hairs, as it were…maybe not all of them, but some (hey! a three-way squeeze!).

It hinked me out to deal with this very creepy hybrid “thing” (heck, it hinked me out to read the original Lio strip — shades of the old Steve McQueen classic, The Blob!), but I’m tough.

And mucho affection for Mark Tatulli, who does Lio. Our favorite naturalist made a two-day guest appearance this week — It. Was. Great.

Elly and Connie go wandering aimlessly. Unfortunately, there aren’t any polar bears in the neighborhood to cut short their meanderings or the latest meeting of the Milborough Mutual Admiration Society…

This was a little creepy, even for me, but when two Sunday FOOBs are published on the same day, I begin looking for conspiracy theories, Freudian psychosexual implications, little green men, and some thread, however thin and insubstantial, to tie it all together.

(The Julie Taymor film version of Titus Andronicus was pretty damned cool. Several thumbs up. And a couple of heads.)

I think this particular horse has been beaten to death…maybe the next pre-nuptial adventure will be hiring a caterer! Or a band! Oh, heck, now that Liz has the Wedding Gown of Her Dreams (or at least the Wedding Gown of Everyone’s Elses Dreams), perhaps it’s time to exact some vengeance on her hapless bridesmaids.

There was a lot of speculation and discussion whether her grandmother’s wedding dress was accurate for the time period in which Jim and Marian married: the general consensus was that it was about as plausible as little Mary Worth and her little friend Cathy galavanting around in 70s fashions. No, not the 1870s. In the meantime, I abandoned the whole period wedding dress issue and put Liz in an oh-so-sexy, retina-burning, 50’s-vintage sheer black gown, as offered by eBay (where all the trendy brides shop), for Something Special to wear on her wedding night.

I think this was based on the cover of one of the countless collections. It needed help. Well, I thought it needed help, or the characters needed help (nudge nudge wink wink say no more).

What are the odds that the same day (31 March 2008) will feature Dick Tracy hanging out of the belly of an antique Chinese horse statue (no, I don’t know why) AND Elly Patterson yammering on about wanting to relinquish the reins while still owning the horses (it’s a control issue, I’m sure of it)?

If this day was candy, it would be a Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup, a delightful combination of peanut butter and chocolate…mmmmmm.

And yes, the stalward detective was hanging out of the belly of the beast; things have shifted a bit here.
