Just come back.  I can’t take the Rex-less storyline much longer.  Even the cussing doesn’t help that much. Or the cameo appearances.

Rex Morgan has been gone so long, I think he’s staying in the Caribbean to endow a (folding) chair at his alma mater, the Captain Jack Sparrow Medical School and Rasta Bar-be-que Culinary Academy.

Oh, well, I suppose we just have to plug along in Morganville on our own:

[Who do you think takes care of Dr. Reed when June’s off at a nursing conference, anyway?]

Mark’s nemesis is inadvertently bonked on the head with a 55-gallon drum of toxic waste and will probably live.  Yay! Crisis solved!

So what do you do for a job well done?  You GO FISHING! Yay! Fishing!

Even if Cherry is sick of having Rusty underfoot and forces you to take the little freak along, it’s still a pretty sweet deal…

Remember them? Rex Morgan? Judge Parker Mary Worth? Before sobering storylines like Alzheimer patients and potential nursing home problems? Or Hollywood starlets being stalked by paparazzi? Or all the freakin’ talking that no one cares about?!?

Pardon me while I wax nostalgic…

Sadly, Rex and his family are still sailing to Bora Bora or Betelguese…or are they?

Comments Off on Back in the PSAddle again…

I think I’ll start a collection of comic books that feature comic strip characters who boldly made the jump out of newsprint (okay, so this was back in the 50s and 60s, but hey).

Mark Trail is a natural:  a comic book with nature stuff is kind of like toting around a bigger, flimsier copy of a Peterson bird guide or a Stebbens herpetology guide:

We’ve  already seen a Rex Morgan publication on behalf of public health issues (I’m sure something like this was given away free):

But then there were Rex Morgan comics that required payment and seem to have dealt with private health matters:

Leading up to the ultimate,  save-your-allowance-for-this-kids! comic book:

Ah, the good old days!

Rex is still asea (for so many reasons!), but things continue in Morganville.  And the assisted health-care facility that Becka is working at seems to have more problems than she’d originally heard about:

Or, when life gives you a naked, wet, dripping Jeffy, make shameful, ruthless fun of him.

So, the 15 July 2009 Family Circus has little Jeffy answering the door naked and telling the unlucky woman on the stoop that his mother is giving him a bath and maybe she ought to come back later.  Ha. Ha.

Funny thing, Jeffy was in the same position as Becky was in the Sunday Funky Winkerbean (yes, that Funky Winkerbean).  Nice to know that if Becky can’t answer the door, we have a dependable substitute:

And there’s always just making fun of the strip (ahem) at hand:

And lest you think the Morgans’ cruise to the Bahamas or Barbados or Bora Bora or Barcelona is going well, think again:

You say something just a little snarky about the Cruise from Hell storyline not being rip-roaring and spine-tingling (I think I said “a wee bit boring”), and we’re switching gears, or boats, or ponies, in mid-Caribbean. And boy, does THIS storyline look boring!

Maybe if Becka strutted around in revealing outfits….

We need a savior, and I think June fits the bikini bill!

Meanwhile, June isn’t the only one miffed about this turn of events:

Romantic sunsets?
Elegant dinners?
Leisurely strolls?
Crap like that?
You bet it is!!
