Well, the time for Tu’i’s owners to come home has arrived, and other than trying to hide him at Casa de Queek, it’s time to says adios to the fluff for a bit.

Before he goes, Tu’i demonstrates what a classic West Highland terrier breed standard should be:  Eyes–widely set apart, medium in size, almond shaped, dark brown in color, deep set, sharp and intelligent.  Looking from under heavy eyebrows, they give a piercing look.

Nice work, Tu’i!

And here’s a couple of hours of fetch under his belt.  This ball continues to be his favorite.

Tu’i did get a bath before going home with the ‘rents, I hear.

Let’s see. Rex and June have arrived in San Diego and the apartment complex they’re supposed to be spying on, only to have Rex suddenly forced to look at some malfunctioning plumbing (funny thing — this is the same term that Rex uses for his gynecological appointments).

At long last, the seafood delights that both of them have been waiting for so long seem to be a growing reality!

Oops, let’s get the name right so we’re not wandering all over the place (one seaside paradise looks much like another, after all…):

AARGH! Spoke too soon.  Those clams are sooooooooooooooooooooooo close, too…

I don’t know if Mark Trail is all that interesting, or that the other serials are just pretty damned boring at the moment (Mary slaves away at her computer, Sam is roaming the backwoods with Juggs McGee, Rex is fixing a young lady’s plumbing IN THE MOST LITERAL SENSE, and so on).  So you’re stuff with the gang in LoFo.

At least we can sit back and all agree…What a Woman!

And then we can really settle in and nod… What a Man!

I volunteer with our fair county’s Friends of the Library.  Sometimes you get lucky.  And then sometimes someone dies and his/her estate is donated, and you find yourself with old comics paperbacks.  Not necessarily good ones, either.

But since a lot of us have bits and pieces of masochistic streaks running through us, I’m proudly offering:

Channel Chuckles by Bill Keane (that’s what it says on the cover — the title page has the more familiar Bil Keane signature):  a little water-damage, this paperback dates to a 1973 printing by Scholastic Book Services.  Nice to know that SBS’s standards improved when it signed on to distribute those funny little Harry Potter stories.

The Family Circus (“that hilarious cartoon family everyone is talking about”): 1966 printing of a Fawcett Gold Medal paperback, when the kids were still really fat-headed, Thel still had her original ‘do and Sam the Dog was still wandering the streets, homeless.

Any masochists out there? Interested?  $5.00 gives you both thin volumes of rip-roaring humor that you’ll swear you’ve see before.  All proceeds go to the Friends of the Library, which funds lots of programs in our area (the largest being the Summer Reading programs for kids, teens and adults).  Drop me a note here.

Also let me know if you’re interested in unusual comics collections/graphic novels/weird stuff.  I can’t promise you anything, but then again, you never know.

Actually, it seems more like Tu’i, who’s visiting CC’s queek for a short time, is mostly on da couch!  Ah, well, it’s getting chilly, and there’s no reason for a pup to put up with a bed on the floor.

Anyway, there’s time enough for spoiling by driving him to the local pet supermarket to let him pick out a new ball, then driving him home and letting him spend a few leisurely hours de-squeaking the purchase.

In case you’ve never seen an abused dog in your life, looking at Tu’i is not going to change that!

Spiderman was up against some clown (No! Really!) and defeated him (I think), so now there’s a new story.  Peter and Mary Jane are looking for a house! In Long Island! Yes — the most exciting story-line in Spiderman in YEARS is about to begin!!!

I’m trying my best not to get my hopes up…
