I don’t mash on Frazz…it’s a very good comic all on its own (a wee bit too healthy for me, though).  I was a little confused today when the driver of a high-maintenance, low-MPG vehicle had been screaming at Frazz, and to have Caulfield comment on the incident:

Okay, so it was Stephan Pastis (big laugh at Pastis’ expense).  But wouldn’t it have been better if Pastis had been actually mooning Frazz?

You might say that it would’ve been impossible to identify Pastis’ butt if that had been drawn, and no big laugh would’ve ensued.  I’m not so sure, though:

You be the judge!

I think the comment was pretty hilariously offensive as-is. He just called Pastis “Ass Face”! This, of course, will lead to bloody retribution, as soon as Guard Duck comes back from his ashram or lamasery or whatever.

Oh, okay.  The 3/23 PBS helps explain things. I have to keep in mind that Mallet tends to be a little subtle in the same but opposite way that Pastis tends to be obvious (read, Pastis’ puns).
